The Met Office Launches Android App
Following the highly successful Met Office weather app on iPhone, weather forecasts from the Met Office are now available for Android. The app can be used on all android phones and includes a widget so information can be accessed directly from the dashboard.

The new android app is the latest addition to our range of products for mobile users and provides easy access to the latest weather forecasts and warnings wherever you are and is available at Marketplace.

The app allows users to save multiple favourite locations so local weather information is available at your fingertips 24 hours a day.

As well as launching the new android app the hugely successful Met Office iPhone app has also been upgraded. This new app is now available from the Apple App Store.

Mubaloo provided the Met Office with the designs, build and tracking for both the android and updated iPhone weather applications.

Neil Commander, Account Director at Mubaloo said: “It has been hugely enjoyable and a great privilege to design and develop the new Met Office weather applications. The opportunity to work with the Met Offices’ comprehensive weather data inspired us to produce an accessible and elegant application that we hope will be well received by existing and future app users.”

Charles Ewen, Head of Web and Media at the Met Office said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of the new Android app and updated iPhone app. Both are free to download and offer easy access to our forecasts 24 hours a day.

Key features of the new android app include:
• Free to download
• Up to date weather forecasts and warnings
• At a glance 5 day overview
• 3 hourly location forecasts
• 5000 locations to choose from with multiple favourites

The iPhone app has been updated and now includes 3 hourly forecasts out to 5 days ahead, UV forecast maps and information on the likelihood of rain or snow. The new design will be even easier to navigate enabling people to get the most up to date weather information across the UK.
